| What is BlacMail? |
BlacMail is a software that allows you to receive and send emails on your mobile phone instantly. And the best part- it doesn't require a fancy phone or even GPRS!

| Do I need GPRS on my mobile to use BlacMail? |
No! GPRS isn't a necessity for using BlacMail.

No, BlacMail works only for GSM mobiles.

| Currently I am working with GPRS connection on my phone can I still have BlacMail? |
BlacMail doesn't need GPRS to work. Though it can be downloaded from the website via GPRS as well.

| Does BlacMail work for corporate ids as well? |
Yes it does. We will need the following details:
- Domain Name:
- Server: whether IMAP/POP
- Port Number: for incoming mails
- SSL Enabled: (stands for Secured Socket Layer)

| How do I install BlacMail in my mobile? |
You can download BlacMail from our website either to your PC (after which you'll need to transfer it to your phone via a data cable) or through GPRS directly to your phone! You can also get BlacMail from a friend who already has it through Bluetooth.

| How do I know whether BlacMail works on my phone? |
BlacMail should work on any cell phone with:

Service Issues |

| When I try to install the new version of BlacMail, the error message "REGISTRATION FAILED" pops up. What do I do? |
First, uninstall the old version of BlacMail on your cell. Then install the new version. If the problem persists, write to us at support@blacmail.in

| I cannot receive mails on my phone through BlacMail. Why? |
BlacMail may not send/receive mails for the following reasons:
- Mobile prepaid balance is low or nil
- Prepaid/postpaid account is not active
- Mobile network is not accessible
- Profile or Account is not configured in BlacMail or deleted/disabled by user
- BlacMail has zero credits available for the service to continue
- Conflicting applications- there might be 2 instances of the application. Delete one of them to access the application.
- BlacMail has been uninstalled from the phone
- Whitelist has been turned on. In this case, you can change the whitelist settings by going to Settings -> whitelist -> and disabling all chosen fields. Or, you can add a particular domain name in the domain section so that mails from this source will be received by you.
- You might be using a yahoo.com/rediffmail.com ID. BlacMail doesn't work for these domains, though it does work for yahoo.co.in.

| How do I regulate my FaceBook messages (stop receiving junk from FB)? |
You will have to change your settings on Facebook.

| BlacMail sent me a mail saying POP not enabled for my email ID. What do I do? |
You'll have to change settings on gmail or yahoo.co.in, depending on which site you have your email ID in.
Gmail settings
BlacMail is a push email client for mobile phones. Follow the below steps to enable delivery of mail to BlacMail.
Step 1: Click Settings on the Gmail page and click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
Step 2: Go to the IMAP Access section and select the Enable IMAP option.
Step 3: Click on Save Changes.
Step 4: Update your profile on BlacMail(on your cell) as well by going to settings -> accounts -> type in your email ID password again -> click on update.
Yahoo settings
Note: BlacMail supports email addresses ending with @yahoo.in or @yahoo.co.in
Step 1: Click Options -> Mail Options
Step 2: Click POP & Forwarding and under the Web & POP Access section,
select the I don't want to receive any messages that SpamGuard thinks are spam option
Step 3: Click Save
Step 4: Update your profile on BlacMail(on your cell) by going to settings -> accounts -> type in your email ID password again -> click on update.

| I cant receive mails on my yahoo.com / rediffmail.com ID.why? |
BlacMail doesn't work for www.yahoo.com, but it does work for www.yahoo.co.in

| How do I update my email password on BlacMail? |
Go to Settings -> Accounts -> And click on the email ID, whose password you want to change.
Then go to the password option, type in the new password, and select 'Update'.

| I changed my sim card, and am not receiving emails now. What do I do? |
You need to first delete your mail account in the previous sim card, and then add the same account in the new sim card. If you still aren't receiving mails, write to us at support@blacmail.in

| How do I know where the application will be saved after installation? |
By default BlacMail is installed in the application folder, though it may also be made available in your customized location.

| How do I transfer BlacMail via Bluetooth? |
Step 1: Switch on Bluetooth in both cell phones (yours and your friend's)
Step 2: Go to Options on the BlacMail home screen, and click on BlacMail transfer
Step 3: Find your friend on Bluetooth and transfer BlacMail
Step 4: While your friend is installing BlacMail, tell him/her to add your phone number in the "Reference Phone no." field.

| How do I compose/reply to mails? |
Click on New to compose a new mail. For replying, open the mail, then go to Options -> Reply/Forward

| How do I add / delete / edit mail accounts? |
Go to Settings -> Accounts -> Options, and then choose from the options Add A/c, Delete A/c, and Edit A/c
|
| How do I change my BlacMail PIN? |
Go to Settings -> Profile -> BlacMail PIN. After changing the PIN, click on Save.

| How do I get charged for the usage of this application? |
For every mail received or sent you lose a credit (it could be more depending on your mail download size). And you are charged at your usual SMS rates.

| How do I check my credit balance? |
Go to Options -> On demand -> Credit Info

| How do I recharge my account? |
You can purchase credits from your nearest UniverCell outlet.

| How do I distinguish between mails in my BlacMail account? |
Mails from different sources have different icons. The icons for Orkut, Face book, Naukri and Monster are shown below.

| How do I enable or disable an account? |
Go to Settings -> Profile -> Enable /Disable accounts.

| How do I know if an account has been enabled or disabled? |

« The icons on the BlacMail home screen will appear grey if they have been disabled.
« And if the icons have been enabled they will appear green or blue, depending on whether the personal id or the work id has been enabled. |

| How do I access the same email id on two phones? |
You cannot access the same email ID on two phones simultaneously.

| How does the credit meter work? |
| The credit meter is situated on the top right hand corner of your BlacMail home page. Its colour tells you the amount of credit you have left: |

| How many email Ids can I configure in BlacMail? |
You can configure 2 email Ids- work and personal accounts.

| What are the work and personal accounts? |
They are two categories which help differentiate between mails delivered to different email Ids.
|
| Do I receive mails on BlacMail even when the application is closed? |
When you receive a mail from BlacMail, you get a message saying 1 new item BlacMail 1.1. You can then start BlacMail to check the mail.

| How do I know when I've received an email? |
A message that says "1 unread Email" will appear on your BlacMail home screen.

| Where are my BlacMail messages stored? |
All mails are stored in your BlacMail inbox.
|
| Do I receive mails while roaming? |
Yes! You do receive mails while roaming.
|
| What is my inbox and sent box size? |
The inbox size is the number of emails that are stored in the inbox at any given time. Older mails are automatically deleted.
To change inbox/sent box size, go to Settings -> Profile -> Inbox size or Sent box size. You can then choose the number of mails that you want to be stored in the inbox and sent box.

| What is the mail download size & how do I change it? |
This option determines the length of each message you receive in your inbox. It regulates the amount of text that you receive in each message, there by saving credits that you would otherwise have spent on it.
For example, if you set the mail download size as tiny, you will only get a bit of the message, after which you will be asked whether you want the next chunk of the message. This is done through the "More" option.
To change your mail download size, go to Settings -> Profile -> Mail download size. You can choose Tiny, Small or Medium as your mail download size.

| Can I receive/send mails with attachments? |
You cannot send a mail with attachment.
If you receive a mail with attachment; an attachment logo appears when the mail is opened.

| What is the BlacMail PIN? |
This PIN ensures the safety of your BlacMail emails. To activate the BlacMail PIN, go to Settings -> Profile -> BlacMail PIN -> type in desired PIN -> Click Save. You will have to enter this PIN every time you open the BlacMail application on your mobile phone.

| What is the state code? |
The state code is the server long code number for the respective state.
Eg: KA for Karnataka, AP for Andhra Pradesh and TN for Tamil Nadu.

| What is the Reference Phone no.? |
The reference phone number is the number of the person who gave you BlacMail. It can also be left blank.
|
| What are the different icons on the home screen? |
Go to How to Use BlacMail for a detailed description.

| What is On demand Check mail? |
On demand Check mail allows you to get your email only when you want it. By clicking on this you get the 5 most recent mails delivered to your cell phone. This only works when the particular account has been disabled, and allows you to save your credits by spending only on the necessary mails.

| What is Whitelist? |
This feature allows you to receive mails from a group of selected contacts only. BlacMail then forwards only mails that are from these sources, allowing you to control your credit by saving on mails from unknown or unimportant senders.
For example: you can choose to receive mails only from job sites like naukri.com and monster.com. You can also choose to receive mails from a particular email ID only.

| What is the "More" option that appears when I open an email? |
If the mail size is more than 160 characters, the email is split into a number of SMSes. The "more" option shows that there is more email content available to download.

| Where does BlacMail store my information? |
The BlacMail server is protected behind a world class firewall which is constantly upgraded. The data is encrypted- level 2, and even our staff doesn't have access to the data.

| What if I have forgotten my BlacMail PIN? |

| What if I change my Email password? |
If you change your mail ID password on the internet, you need to update your BlacMail password as well. If this isn't done, you won't receive any new mails on your phone.
To change your password on BlacMail, go to Settings -> Accounts -> And click on the email ID, whose password you want to change. Then go to the password option, type in the new password, and select 'Update'.
